“Several considerations have prompted me to think about submitting an application for the post of police officer in Lincolnshire. Working here will provide me the chance to use my skills for good and improve people’s lives. For as long as I can remember, being a police officer has been one of my top goal. If given the opportunity, I will learn and grow professionally and personally in a difficult and fast-paced environment, which is exactly the type of place where I want to work. I get the most satisfaction in my profession when I am expanding my knowledge and skills. Joining the police force seems like a great option to me because there is plenty of possibility for development in that sector. The everyday challenges and opportunities to interact with residents of the Lincolnshire area are what I’m most looking forward to about this position.”
SUGGESTED ANSWER
“Communication skills are essential for police officers. An officer’s ability to communicate with and listen to members of the public, as well as to gather both written and spoken evidence, is crucial to the success of their job. Officers should be consistent with the values, standards, and operational procedures of the police department while communicating with suspects, witnesses and victims. The ability to operate both alone and collaboratively is crucial. If you want to perform a well as a police officer, you need to prioritise the welfare of your community and set a good example for the people you serve. Because of the nature of the job, officers need to be confident in themselves and able to bounce back quickly from setbacks. A lot of people look up to you because they know they can always count on your experience and calm guidance in tough situations. Officers must have extensive knowledge of the area they monitor and the safety measures in place. Officers need to be able to work together as well as think independently in order to successfully solve crimes, complicated situations, and community concerns.”

Alternately, Lincolnshire Police do have entrance routes for serving PCSOs and special constables, if certain conditions are met.
It is worth noting that all of these routes are subject to the successful completion of the Lincolnshire Police selection process to become a Police Officer.

Q3: What makes a good application?
With any police application form, it is vital that you are completely transparent and truthful, as integrity and honesty form part of the values that we expect our police officers to live and perform their duties by.
It is also imperative that you study and understand the Competencies and Values Framework (CVF) as this is what the entire application process will be assessed against, not just the initial application form. The CVF, however, will be assessed more in the competency-based questions section of the form, where you will be asked about situations from your past and where you have demonstrated the competencies. There will also be questions in regards to your motivations for wanting to become a police officer.
Q4: What is checked in police vetting?
It is vital that police officers act at all times with the highest level of integrity when carrying out their duties, and in their personal life, so it is imperative that these vetting checks are carried out to ensure any potential new recruits also comply with these standards. Police Officers are pillars of the community and have to be trusted by the community.
The vetting teams, will look at your past, check your references and your academic/professional qualifications.
They will also search for any arrests, convictions, cautions, fixed penalties and motoring offences and finances. They will also search social media for behaviours and open-source material. This applies to you and your family and close associates, such as people you live with.
